If more than one hole is needed in the pot, this bulkhead fitting is a good choice. Often, thermometers or immersion sleeves do not have enough sealing surface to securely and, above all, tightly fasten them to the pot.
This bulkhead fitting guarantees that the additional equipment can be screwed tightly. The thermometer or also the immersion sleeve is then screwed into the bulkhead fitting and sealed with the supplied seals.
Likewise, the bulkhead fitting can be used when inexpensive 1/2" male taps are used that do not have enough sealing surface.
